Websites Updates & Traffic Update: Q1 2025

I last made a blog post about my web traffic stats on 4th February 2025, and today I’m continuing with the sharing of my stats. This post is a summary of my web traffic performance for Q1 of 2025.

My Work Since Last Update

Since my last update, I’ve been very consistent with my content and web-related updates. This wave of continued motivation has been on-going since the end of November 2024.

I’ve been keeping consistent with mostly my technical (SQL DBA) blogging, which is always a huge undertaking. Imagine channeling all your efforts, all of your creativity, into a website. You create new content, update old content and improve all technical parts of the website… then when I check in on my progress via Organic Search results, it’s all just the same, nothing is moving, and nothing is happening.

The reason for slow gains in organic traffic is because, Google and Bing can take 6 to 12 months to properly rank competitive content, based on your specific keywords. When you hit the publish button to update a blog post, it might take a few days or weeks to be indexed, depending on the websites Domain Authority, but then it’s a proper waiting game to see any movement for a particular piece.

I have seen some progression, but not where I expected! I’m seeing more movement with this website, my personal blog, than any of my SQL DBA Blog posts. This site is event getting Google Discover Traffic, which I’ve never seen before! I’m assuming the reason is that the posts that are ranking were created 9 months ago, and I can see the consistent organic growth of rank for the past months easy.

Anyway, hope you enjoy following this. One day it’ll get very interesting.

Traffic Stats for Q1 2025

My main focus as mentioned above has always been my Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration blog, which is driven by skills needed for my day-to-day job. I love writing about this content as it not only makes me better at my job, but it means I can explore, write and test any random thing I think about.

The odd thing I noticed when I look at my organic traffic is, for all the 1000’s of hours I’ve committed to the tech blog, I’m seeing some of my personal blog posts gain great numbers. This means, I’m definitely going to diversify and blog across at least 3 websites, 2 of which are already underway/on-going!

Here’s my traffic stats for Q1 2025!

Technical (SQL DBA) Blog Traffic

Google Search Console: Last 3 Months

Bing Webmaster Tools: Last 12 Months

Ahrefs: Long-term Results

Personal Blog Traffic

Google Search Console: Last 3 Months

Bing Webmaster Tools: Last 12 Months

Ahrefs: Long-term Results

Conclusion & Next Steps

The web traffic stats in the end are meaningless. We do this because we want to and hold a huge passion for it, else this would not be happening. I’m writing blog posts and creating websites for fun. I inevitably want to be generating good ‘passive’ income from all this work, however I’m in it for the long game. There’s no success without the long game!

The next steps for me is to be creating another website for ore technical & database admin related content, and I’ll be spending more time here on my personal blog, as it’s showing great promise.

Anyway anyway, hope you enjoy following this. I’ll post again one day soon with better results 🙂
